Dan Holme, a graduate of Yale and Thunderbird, has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most respected consultants, authors, and experts on Microsoft technologies. With a career spanning thirty years, Dan currently leads a product team for Microsoft Viva Engage, innovating employee experiences including storyline, events and leadership. Previously, he led product marketing teams that launched new and reimagined products including SharePoint, OneDrive, Yammer, Microsoft Stream, SharePoint Syntex and Microsoft Viva. With a career spanning more than 25 years, Dan Holme, a native of Colorado and graduate of Yale, earned a reputation as one of the world’s most respected consultants, authors, thought leaders, and experts on Microsoft technologies.

 

Prior to joining Microsoft, Dan was the co-founder of IT Unity, a media, events, and digital marketing company serving the Office 365 and SharePoint communities worldwide. As CEO, Dan helped to build IT Unity’s strong brand, customer base, and reputation among users, partners, and experts around the globe. Previously, as the co-founder of trainAbility and founder of Intelliem, Dan trained and advised hundreds of thousands of IT professionals, executives, and users at almost every Fortune 100 enterprise, and more than half of the Fortune 500 and Global 1000. 

Dan authored hundreds of articles for IT Unity and SharePointProMag.com, and numerous best-selling books for Microsoft Press. A milestone was reached when, concurrently, 6 of Amazon's top 15 technology bestsellers were Dan's.

For these contributions, Dan was awarded Microsoft MVP status for ten years across four technologies, named one of the top ten partner MVPs in the world, and recognized as one of the top influencers in the SharePoint and Office 365 community.

 

Dan joined Microsoft in 2016 as Director of Product Marketing, leading the team that launched new and reimagined products including SharePoint, OneDrive, Yammer, Microsoft Stream, SharePoint Syntex and Microsoft Viva.

Today, Dan leads a product team for Microsoft Viva Engage, innovating employee experiences including storyline, rich media, events and leadership.

Based in Phoenix after ten years on Maui, Hawaii and five in Seattle, Dan is passionate about nature, travel, the performing arts, and the Olympic Games. Dan has served as the Microsoft Technologies Consultant for NBC Sports for the broadcast of the Olympics in Rio, Sochi, London, Vancouver, Beijing and Torino.

A graduate of Yale University (BA, summa cum laude and phi beta kappa) and Thunderbird (MBA, Presidential Scholar), Dan has spent 30 years as an award-winning entrepreneur, thought leader, trainer, best-selling author, journalist, and consultant to a “who’s who” of Fortune‑caliber clientele.

As the founder and CEO of trainAbility, Dan was the first person in the world to deliver independent Windows 2000 and Active Directory training, supporting early adopters including Hewlett-Packard, AT&T, General Electric, Los Alamos, Compaq, Johnson & Johnson, the Federal Reserve. trainAbility’s 400%-1000% annual growth rates earned Dan recognition as an Entrepreneur of the Year, and trainAbility a “Startup Business of the Year” award.

In 2002, Dan founded Intelliem, a boutique consulting and training firm with a Fortune-caliber clientele and deep expertise and experience in Windows, Active Directory, and SharePoint. High‑profile customers include Raytheon, the Capital Group, Penton Media, and Microsoft. Dan also serves as the Microsoft Technologies Consultant for NBC Olympics, supporting the broadcast of six Olympic games: Rio (2016), Sochi (2014), London (2012), Vancouver (2010), Beijing (2008), and Torino (2006).

Dan served as the Chief SharePoint Evangelist for AvePoint in 2011-2012, where he represented AvePoint to customers, press, and industry partners on all seven continents. Dan helped drive strategy and governance discussions with C‑level executives at some of the largest SharePoint implementations in the world, and represented customer feedback to guide product development strategies and engineering roadmaps.
